These lads really do have a terrific act. The theatre show that we filmed and produced into a DVD and that they now sell, charts the career of one of the 80’s most prolific hit makers, Madness. Using four cameras and two cranes, we filmed at The Regent Theatre in Ipswich. It was the first time we had seen the show, but managed to get all the action in the can in one go. (And trust us, there is A LOT of action!) Three weeks later, we presented the finished product to the band in a showing at our base in Retford. They left with a DVD that they are truly pleased with. One of the most satisfying moments of a project like this is to see the reaction of the client. We were not disappointed. All in all we couldn’t have hoped for a better result.

Play Pause Click has enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership with this show and all the people involved. Based on the life of legendary rock and roll king Billy Fury, it features his original backing band, Fury’s Tornados. The two-hour journey through the historic star’s life is now complemented with back projection filmed and produced by us. Integrating archive film, historic photographs, live footage of the band and actual movies of Billy with Fury’s Tornados, the backdrop has notably enhanced the show. PPC has produced their live DVD featuring live performances, interviews with the band members and star of the show Colin Gold, as well as a behind the scenes look at the life of the road crew.

Vince Eager is one of Great Britain’s pioneer Rock and Roll stars. He commissioned us to shoot a live concert in aid of The Asian Tsunami Appeal, featuring five local Nottingham bands. The DVD went on sale three weeks after the concert, and sold well. We also recently completed work on Vince’s `65, Not Out` concert. The brief was to produce two hours plus of video for back-stage projection, which was done and screened to rave reviews. We have enjoyed a close and fruitful relationship with Vince and have enjoyed working with him immensely.

The `Happy Birthday Elvis` show at The Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, in association with BBC Radio Nottingham was held in early 2005, in aid of BBC Children In Need. The introduction was shot by BBC Los Angeles and featured Elvis’ songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller (‘Hound Dog’ and many others). First task was to edit that piece from around ten minutes down to a two-minute segment. From there on, using photographs, old Elvis movies, motion backgrounds and archive material, we composed over two hours of video that was projected onto a forty-foot screen backstage. There was well over 100 performers on stage that night, and the show played to a capacity audience. The effect was visually stunning and drew admiration from audience and crew alike.

Filming Michelle is always an event in itself. We love her to bits. A consummate professional, she is just as at home whether on the high seas performing aboard a luxury liner or in a club or casino here at home. Turn Media has done everything for Michelle. From her designing her business cards to photos and several DVD showreels to even giving her a hand on the road, we have had a lot of fun with her.

PPC filmed two of the most recent in-house production shows at Thoresby Hall. Because of limitations, we had to shoot over a six-week period and edit together at the end. Obviously this gave rise to some interesting continuity problems, but the whole team really loved the final cut and all had a copy on DVD.

- Is This The Road To Amarillo
This group really have it. Front man Simon Taylor has an amazing voice and stage presence that really works. We first met him at a Tsunami Relief Concert where we filmed the whole event. We were really impressed with the musicianship and style of this soul band. The video previewed here is their rendition of Amarillo.

Andy’s DVD showreel was a fun project. Trying to not think of his puppet stork Lewis as a real person was very difficult indeed! We combined some of his TV material along with a comprehensive biography, contact details and live performance segments that we filmed at the Regal in Worksop. Andy was very pleased with the resulting DVD, which helped remind the agents that he was available. Bookings rose considerably after sending them out. We wish Andy all the very best and look forward to filming him and that bird again soon!

Craig’s style and panache is a real treat. His renditions of the big band classics are wonderfully entertaining. Play Pause Click produced his last DVD showreel with a Las Vegas theme, using his own material plus additional contributions from us. The strangest part was where we needed to give the impression that Craig was standing in the centre of the strip in Vegas. So, at ten o clock at night, there we were, in the middle of the A1 filming the traffic passing each side. Using a chroma-key technique, we then composited the traffic and Vegas together to give the result you can see in the video preview here. Very Odd! (The late night filming antics, Not Craig, he’s very good indeed!)

This project was a little out of the ordinary for us, something as far away from loud guitars and drums as we could get. David Mee, the SASO Chief Executive came to us after seeing the Tsunami DVD. The video featured here is a pre-production cut of that days filming. SASO launches very soon in the UK.

Filming has completed on this project and again, with this project, our ability to adapt has been tested. Recording took place at the PureLands Japanese Water Gardens and Meditation Centre in Nottinghamshire. It’s not often our cameras see the outdoors, but the place is an absolute treat. A Tae Chi video is a very calming experience to film, edit and watch. Karen’s talent and ability are supreme
Other artists that Play Pause Click has produced material for include…
PPC’s founder, Andy Lockwood worked for `Lace as their sound engineer for many years. He was forced to retire in 1987 following a back injury. (too much gear!) Andy has stood in on many occasions since his departure and stays in close touch with the lads. It is anticipated that Turn Media will be producing an hour of backdrop video in the near future
PPC is looking forward to providing video solutions to this new venture. A close partnership is envisaged
PPC filmed and produced a DVD of this impressive two-hour theatre show. Filmed in York
Pete and Andy go back well over twenty years, since the days of holiday camps and summer seasons! More recently, Pete and Andy combined forces to create Clap-Clap Music, releasing a CD of Pete’s songs. Andy had the rare treat of dueting on two numbers recorded at Meadow Farm Studios, ‘What A Swell Party’ and ‘The Lady is A Tramp’. Not so much ‘Swing when you’re Winning’, more like Sing when you’re laughing!
Following on from the success of the Happy Birthday Elvis show, the BBC contacted us to once again produce the visual elements for ‘Let It Be’, the 2006 Children In Need fundraising concert, held again at Nottinghams Royal Concert Hall.
